April 2008

·         Various Net Down tasks involving general projects and planning development including Footprint update, GIS update and prioritize areas under Multiple Accounts to focus on FG MPB  impacted areas

·         Preparation of various tender documentation and information for 2008 projects.

·         Project and information roll-over from previous project led by NIFR –JS MPB impacted areas (free growing and non-free growing areas)

·         Updating Safety Plan (sent to PwC)

·         Updating Quality Assurance Plans and related procedures documentation (sent to PwC)

·         Finalizing Planting Work Plans and Maps 280ha and 300,000 trees for Summer 2008 (including layout, traversing, mapping, creating and editing Work Plans)

·         Finalizing Recce Survey Program of FG impacted opening by MPB, maps and GIS for 15,000 ha for 2008 season

·         Finalizing Full Survey Program of FG impacted openings by MPB, maps and GIS for 2,600 ha for 2008 season

·         Access Management update for areas under project for 2008

·         Initiating First Nations information sharing and consultation process for 2008/2009 projects

·         Initiated 11 projects in PINES (currently all pending)

·         Continued dialogue and meetings with NIFR staff, Prince George Forest District staff.

 

May 2008

·         Follow up with First Nations Bands and Prince George District Liaison Officer on Consultation process and information sharing. This include very successful meeting on May 8, 2008

·         Working on capacity building with local First Nation Band

·         Engaged with finalizing Planting blocks layout, GPS and mapping on impacted openings by MPB (including some field data collection of ecological and soils information and developing Work Plans)

·         Engaged with recce surveys on previously identified openings impacted by MPB – 15,000 ha

·         Engaged with prescription development for 2009/2010 on impacted openings by MPB – Net Down from 15,000 ha

·         A tender request will be issue for Summer Tree Planting 2008 in local newspaper and in FIRS/PINES advertising webpage by May 15, 2008

·         A tender request will be issue for Full Surveys 2008 in local newspaper and in FIRS/PINES advertising webpage by end of May.

·         Direct award will be issue to local First Nation Band for Danger Tree Assessment and Falling

·         Filter down and adjusting GIS information footprint from NSR and Impeded projects in Prince George District on openings affected by MPB and scheduled for Forest Health Surveys.

·         GIS adjustment for road inventory and responsibility in Prince George District.
